Trivia[]
- Zorua spawns in wild disguised as the Buddy Pokémon.
- Zorua disguising itself as other Pokémon is a reference to the illusion ability which it and Zoroark have in the main series where it can take on the appearance (but not other gameplay stats) of a Pokémon in the party.
- Zorua will copy Shiny status, costumes, best buddy ribbons, Shadow and Purified auras in its disguise, although they have no effect on the Zorua that is caught itself. It would even copy Mega Evolutions, but the text will still introduce it as the base form.
- If a Zorua is assigned as buddy, wild Zorua would be available to catch normally and which will skip the unique animation.
- Zorua that had already spawned will not change if the Trainer changes their buddy.
- Zorua was planned to be released at the start of Shuppet Spotlight Hour on October 25th, 2022. It would appear during the first and last five minutes of the hour.[2] However, a bug cancelled the release of Zorua in all time zones after GMT+13.[3]
- The bug caused Zorua to copy the stats and moves of the Buddy Pokémon. Zorua spawned from an Incense or Lure Module with a Pokémon GO Plus (or similar Bluetooth device) would instead result in catching a copy of the Pokémon it was disguised as.[4][5]
- Zorua was later released on October 28th, 2022.[6]
- Zorua caught on October 25th, 2022 had their status fixed on November 15th, 2022.[7]
- Until November 15th, 2022, Zorua and Zoroark could not be traded, used in GO Battle League and transferred to Pokémon HOME.
- An item bundle was offered as an apology for the bug.
- A bug sometimes has Zorua caught without full health.
