Throwback Challenge 2020: Kanto was the first part of Throwback Challenge 2020 event.^[1] It featured a Timed Research that rewarded a Mewtwo with Psystrike, among other items.

A Pokémon Spotlight Hour featuring Shellder was available during the event.

Selected Kanto Pokémon had increased spawn rates in the wild and from Incense or Lure Modules. Pikachu wearing Charizard hat is in honor of Charizard being chosen in the Pokémon of the Year vote as the number-one Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region.
