Shop is one of main game elements that allows players to buy Items and PokéCoins.
To enter the Shop:
- In Map View touch Main Menu button .
- Touch Shop button .

Upgrades
There are currently three kinds of permanent upgrades available to purchase from the shop. They are: Bag Upgrade, Pokémon Storage Upgrade, and Postcard Pages.
Bag Upgrade
Bag Upgrade is a purchasable item which increases a Trainer's maximum items bag size by 50.
The Bag Upgrade is available for purchase from the shop for 200. The upgrade gives the player 50 additional storage slots for any items. Players can repeat this action to continue gaining additional storage, until reaching the maximum possible inventory size of 6,800.
In-game description: Increases the max number of items you carry by 50.
Pokémon Storage Upgrade
Pokémon Storage Upgrade is a purchasable device that increases a Trainer's maximum Pokémon storage capacity.
It can be purchased from the shop for 200. Each upgrade increases Pokémon storage capacity by 50 Pokémon, up to a maximum possible size of 7,800.
In-game description: Increases the max number of Pokémon you can carry by 50.
Postcard Pages
Postcard Pages are a purchasable device that increases a Trainer's maximum Postcard capacity.
It can be purchased from the shop for 100. Each upgrade increases Postcard storage capacity by 50 Postcards, up to a maximum possible size of 1,000.
In-game description: Increases the max number of Postcards you can save by 50.
Team change
A Team Medallion is available for purchased for 1,000. The item allows a Trainer to switch to another Team, but they will not be able to change for another year.[1]
In-game description: A unique coin that enables a Trainer to change teams. It can only be purchased from the shop once per 365 days.
Special offers and promotions

There were several special offers and promotions in item shop with first ones known as Holiday Boxes special offer introduced to game in the morning of December 25th, 2016 as a part of Holiday 2016 event.
When bigger special offers are available in the Shop, there is a red circle around icon of Shop Button and red text with "SHOP" in game Main Menu . Also during Holiday event, while Shop had Holiday special offers its button had a gift icon instead of shopping bag .
Free Box
Trainers can claim a free box with random items from the shop daily.
PokéCoins
PokéCoins are in-game currency used to purchase items from the Shop. They can be obtained in two ways by defending a gym or by purchasing them with real currency.
The coins are golden and they feature a picture of the profile side of a Pikachu.
Defender Bonus

Defender Bonus allows play to gather up to 50 free PokéCoins in a day for keeping Pokémon in Gyms.
The longer the Pokémon stay on the Gym, the more PokéCoins will be earned. For every 10 minutes a Pokémon occupies a gym, 1 will be added to the Trainers' potential defender bonus which is given to Trainer once Pokémon returns from the gym.
Daily Research
Daily Research is a second method of obtaining PokéCoins in game. It is currently in development phase and is being tested in several countries.
When this feature is available, Trainers can achieve only 30 free PokéCoins from Defender Bonus and 20 if Trainer completes all Daily Research tasks.
Micro-transactions
PokéCoins and several in-game exclusive items and item bundle boxes can be bought using real-world currency.

- Before the Gym re-work that occurred on June 20th, 2017, the Defender Bonus worked differently. There was a button in the top-right corner of the Shop page, that a Trainer could click once every 21-hours to acquire their Defender Bonus reward.[2]
- Layout of the Items section in the shop differs between two and three columns of purchasable item offers. It depends on number of these products, if the number of purchasable items is even there are two columns and if the number is odd there are three columns.
- Trainers who are below level 5 cannot buy Premium Battle Pass from the Shop.
- Additionally, these Trainers do not see any special offer boxes which contain Premium Battle Passes.
- As of June 7th, 2018, the Super Incubator is no longer a limited-time item.[3]
- Since March 12th, 2020, the price of Incense is halved due to COVID-19 pandemic.[4] This was first implemented in Japan, South Korea, and Italy from March 2nd.
- Since May 19th, 2022, the price of three Remote Raid Passes has increased from 250 to 300 PokéCoins.[5]
- Since April 6th, 2023, the price of a Remote Raid Pass has increased from 100 to 195 PokéCoins, the price of a Remote Raid Pass bundle has increased from 300 to 525 PokéCoins, and a bundle featuring three Premium Battle Passes was added for 250 PokéCoins.[6]
- Until February 13th, 2024, Trainers on Android could enter promo codes at the bottom of the in-game Shop. This was removed in favor of redeeming codes via the web store.[7]

- On June 22nd, 2017, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's item bag was increased from 1,000 to 1,500.[8]
- On December 8th, 2017, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 1,000 to 1,500.[9]
- On May 15th, 2018, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's item bag was increased from 1,500 to 2,000.[10]
- On November 21st, 2018, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 1,500 to 2,000.[11] The storage increase was originally planned for the second anniversary of Pokémon GO.[12]
- On July 29th, 2019, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 2,000 to 2,500.[13]
- On November 22nd, 2019, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 2,500 to 3,000 and item bag was increased from 2,000 to 2,500.[14]
- On April 15th, 2020, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's item bag was increased from 2,500 to 3,000.[15]
- On July 23rd, 2020, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 3,000 to 3,500.[16]
- On December 1st, 2020, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 3,500 to 4,000.[17]
- On June 4th, 2021, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 4,000 to 4,500.[18]
- On July 6th, 2021, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's item bag was increased from 3,000 to 3,500.[19]
- On November 15th, 2021, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 4,500 to 5,000 and item bag was increased from 3,500 to 4,000.[20]
- On December 16th, 2021, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 5,000 to 5,500 and item bag was increased from 4,000 to 4,500.[21]
- On February 25th, 2022, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 5,500 to 5,600 and item bag was increased from 4,500 to 4,600.[22]
- On June 2nd, 2022, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 5,600 to 6,050 and item bag was increased from 4,600 to 5,050.[23]
- On June 4th, 2022, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 6,050 to 6,100 and item bag was increased from 5,050 to 5,100.[23]
- On August 27th, 2022, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 6,100 to 6,150 and item bag was increased from 5,100 to 5,150.[24][25]
- On December 14th, 2022, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 6,150 to 6,200 and item bag was increased from 5,150 to 5,200.[26]
- On December 21st, 2022, capacity of the Postcard Book was increased from 300 to 350.
- On February 16th, 2023, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 6,200 to 6,250 and item bag was increased from 5,200 to 5,250.[27]
- On April 3rd, 2023, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 6,250 to 6,300 and item bag was increased from 5,250 to 5,300.[28][29]
- On May 19th, 2023, the maximum capacity of the Postcard Book was increased from 350 to 1,000.
- On August 1st, 2023, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 6,300 to 6,800 and item bag was increased from 5,300 to 5,800.[30]
- On December 7th, 2023, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 6,800 to 7,300 and item bag was increased from 5,800 to 6,300.[31]
- On February 15th, 2024, the maximum capacity of a Trainer's Pokémon storage was increased from 7,300 to 7,800 and item bag was increased from 6,300 to 6,800.
