Postcard Book is a game feature in Pokémon GO, which allows the Trainer to save their Postcards. Postcards are obtained from the Gifts either from the Trainer visited PokéStops or sent from friends.[1]
- Postcard Book's in-game description
- A book to collect Postcards and remember locations from your and your friends' journeys.
Viewing Postcard Book[]
The Postcard Book can be accessed by tapping the Postcard Book button in Trainer's profile page or the Postcard Book image in the Item Bag. Postcards can be sorted by recent or sender.
Initially, Trainers can have up to 350 Postcards in their Postcard Book, but they can expand its space by buying upgrades for 100. Every upgrade gives 50 more slots for Postcards, up to a maximum of 2,000.
Selecting a Postcard can view more information of it, including the full image, location and date received. A delete button is located at the bottom right corner. The 0.251.0 update added ability to bulk delete Postcards.[2]
Saving Postcards[]
To save a Postcard, tap Gifts from Item Bag or the Gifts from friends. Then tap the pin button. Please note that Trainer has to save their desired Postcards before sending or opening the Gifts.
Vivillon[]
Pinning a certain amount of Postcards from different regions around the world can result in an encounter with a Scatterbug that will evolve into a Spewpa, then into a Vivillon with the pattern from the region from which the Postcard originated. Making progress by pinning Gifts the player collect can only be done three times per day. Note that some areas in the world do not make progress on the Vivillon Collector medal.
Progress can be tracked from the Vivillon Collector medal in the Trainer's profile page. The first encounter of each pattern requires 3 pinned Postcards, then increases to 9, and ends at 15 for every future encounter.
Connectivity with Nintendo Switch[]
Upon pairing with Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet, Trainers can send a Postcard to those games once per day. Sending a Postcard for the first time will unlock the Coin Bag item that can be used to catch Roaming Form Gimmighoul. The Coin Bag can then be recharged by sending more Postcards on subsequent days. Each Postcard in the Trainer's Postcard Book can only be sent once.[3]
Trainers can also receive a Golden Lure Module on every fifth day of sending Postcards to Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet. The send dates do not have to be consecutive.[4] Trainers can only hold one Golden Lure Module at a time; attempting to obtain another Golden Lure Module without using up the first one will instead result in Gimmighoul Coins.
