Pokémon World Championships 2022 was a tie-in regional event in Pokémon GO for the real-world World Championships of Pokémon Championship Series organized by The Pokémon Company at ExCeL London Convention Center, London, England.[1]

In order to obtain Shadow Punch, Rock Wrecker, Aqua Tail, Meteor Mash or Incinerate, Trainers had to evolve Haunter, Rhydon, Magikarp, Metang or Fletchinder into Gengar, Rhyperior, Gyarados, Metagross or Talonflame respectively during the event. Trainers cannot use TMs to obtain the attacks.

Team Building: Great LeagueTeam Building: Great League Timed Research was available during the event. Trainers could unlock this research, along with the medal, with a code shared during the World Championships Stream, which was valid for one hour after it was released. Trainers could choose one of three paths to obtain different Pokémon for their team. This research was available until September 6th, 2022.[2]

Choose this option to build and train a Pokémon team for the GO Battle League's Great League comprised of Ariados, Pelipper, and Galarian Stunfisk.
Choose this option to build and train a Pokémon team for the GO Battle League's Great League comprised of Skarmory, Swampert, and Drapion.
Choose this option to build and train a Pokémon team for the GO Battle League's Great League comprised of Venusaur, Jellicent, and Talonflame.

These Challengers were available at PokéStops to battle. Their teams were themed from the ones used by Trainers who won the Pokémon GO Regional Championships. Several Poké Balls and Berries would be rewarded if the player defeated them.

As part of the annual Pokémon World Championships event, to celebrate the coming together of trainers for the Pokémon video games and Trading Card Game, a special event was held around the ExCeL London Convention Center in a 1 mile radius.
