Mateo

Mateo is a character that appears at the end point of Routes. Interacting with him begins Gift Exchange. After Gift Exchange is complete, Mateo will stop appearing on Routes for the day.

Gift Exchange

Gift Exchange allows Trainers to send and receive Gifts from another random player. The Gifts sent are not taken from the Trainer's Item Bag; they are instead generated from the surrounding PokéStops and Gyms immediately. Once a Gift is offered through Gift Exchange, another one is instantly given from another player. Normal Gift operations can be performed on the received Gift, such as pinning the Postcard.

Gifts received through Gift Exchange can give special 7-km Eggs with a unique hatch pool, as long as there is an open space in the standard Egg storage. These 7-km Eggs do not go into the bonus storage space.

Current Issues

• When approaching a Gym at the end of a Route, Mateo does not always appear. Tapping on the Gym will prompt Mateo to appear for a Gift Exchange.
• Having the maximum amount of Pokémon in storage blocks Trainers from completing a Gift Exchange.
• After entering, then exiting, and then re-entering the Gift Exchange dialogue with Mateo nearby Gifts no longer appear on the Gift menu.
