Lugia is a Psychic, Flying-type Legendary Pokémon from the Johto region. It does not evolve into or from any other Pokémon. Along with Ho-Oh, it is a member of the Tower Duo.

- Non-event Lugia was released on March 16th, 2018.
- Shiny form of Lugia was released on the same day.
- Shadow form of Lugia was released at the start of A Looming Shadow Returns! on November 9th, 2021.
- Apex Shadow form of Lugia was released at the start of Pokémon GO Tour: Johto on February 26th, 2022.
- Shiny form of Shadow Lugia was released on October 28th, 2023.

- Lugia was the first Legendary Pokémon (along with Articuno) and shiny Legendary Pokémon released in the game.
- Lugia silhouette features in the EX Raid Battle/Elite Raid Battle emblem, but Lugia has never been in EX Raid Battle/Elite Raid Battles.
- Lugia raid in March 2020 was originally lasting from 27th to 30th only.[11] It was first extended from 24th to 31st due to the COVID-19 pandemic[12], then canceled.[13]
- Lugia raid in 2023 was originally announced to end on April 10th[14], it was later changed to April 11th.[15]
