Noted changes
  • Fixed GO Battle League assets display.
  • Navigation through Pokémon collection may be laggy but does not return to the top of the page at certain situations anymore.
Noted bugs  
  • Pokémon do not have their type backgrounds in their summary pages.
  • Selecting Pokémon for battle parties still does not highlight selection until search filter is changed or updated.
  • When creating a new battle party there is a change for all Pokémon to get removed from the created party and the party goes back to no Pokémon once Done button is pressed.
  • Cannot update nor download Niantic AR as it says there is an update at 0MB but then fails to download it; The Retry button then appears on top of the Done button.

  • Soon, Trainers will be able to swipe between their individual friends’ profiles instead of having to back out to the Friend List before selecting another friend.
  • Trainers will now receive a warning modal with the option to manage Pokémon if they enter a Team GO Rocket battle with a full Pokémon inventory.
  • Trainers will now be able to hide their codename in other games on Niantic Social. This setting is universal across all Niantic games.
  • There is a new option to refresh game data in the settings menu. This should be used as a first troubleshooting step if Trainers experience inconsistent gameplay or strange app behavior.
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed an issue that caused sorting by "online" when selecting Friends for raid invitations to not sort properly.
  • Fixed a visual bug that caused another Raid Pass to be requested when rejoining a Raid Battle through a friend’s invite (this second Raid Pass was not consumed).
  • Fixed an issue that caused the "Raid Invitations" toggle in the settings menu to be visible for child accounts without social permissions (the toggle was nonfunctional for these users).
  • Fixed an issue that caused incorrect textures to appear on Trainer avatars in Raid Lobbies.

  • Powering up a Pokémon that is in a Battle Party now properly updates its CP in the Battle Party tab.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the lower portion of the screen to become unresponsive during a Trainer Battle.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Pokémon switch menu to appear immediately after switching to a new Pokémon during a Trainer Battle.
  • Fixed an issue in which clicking “Claim Rewards” for a completed battle set on a following day would result in one fewer allowed battle set.
  • Notification bubbles above the buddy portrait now show the correct icons for the buddy activity taken.
  • Fixed an issue in which trainers could not swipe to pop item bubble rewards after spinning a PokéStop (the items were still automatically collected).
  • Fixed the animation sequence when purifying a Pokémon.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Mysterious Component collection screen to superimpose on top of the map view or other screens in certain situations.
  • The Eggs button in the trainer profile now correctly directs the trainer to the Eggs tab of the Pokémon page instead of the Pokémon storage tab.

In this update, we’re excited to announce more changes focusing on Trainer Battles!

Over the next couple of weeks, you’ll see some changes in Pokémon GO’s various combat systems.

Updates [7]
  • Pokémon eligible for trade Evolution can now be searched using the search term “tradeevolve”.
  • Attack and Defense stats changes are now cleared after swapping during combat.
  • During battle, when two Pokémon use Charged Attacks at the same time, the Pokémon with the higher Attack stat will go first. If two Pokémon have the same Attack stat, a random Pokémon will go first.
  • Removed EX Raid-eligible tag on Gyms with already scheduled EX Raids.
  • Updates to Team Go Rocket Leader Shadow Pokémon encounter logic.
  • Minor visual and audio updates to the Buddy Adventure feature.
  • New ways to engage in Trainer Battles.
Bug fixes
  • Resolved an issue causing Galaxy S10 devices running Android 10 to crash when entering AR+ mode.
  • The “Walk together” category under “Total Activities” now updates more frequently.
  • In-game notifications for when your buddy collects a candy now direct you to the new Buddy Profile page.
  • Fixed a bug where the “Swap Buddies” button on the Buddy Profile page was incorrectly greyed out.
  • Fixed an issue where buddy walk distance could display as a negative value.
  • The “Total days” counter now accurately tracks total days spent with your buddy on the Buddy Profile page .
  • Feeding berries to a buddy is now possible on a rotated device.
  • Fixed instances when the Rocket Radar view could be superimposed on the normal Map View.
  • Fixed an issue where a Team GO Rocket dialogue screen could appear when attempting to exit a Team GO Rocket battle.
  • Added improvements to the Pokémon GO Plus automatic disconnect function.
  • Your buddy must now be on the Map to receive a “Battle together” Affection heart, matching the existing description of the activity.
  • Fixed a bug where Trainers could earn a “Visit a new place” Affection heart by spinning the Photo Disk at a previously visited Gym.
  • Fixed an issue where a Best Buddy Ribbon would not appear on Buddy Pokémon when first reaching the Best Buddy level.
