	These lists includes each different Pokémon form which is registered in the Pokédex:
	New Pokémon species that were made available to be obtained for the first time in the gameplay. For reference see List of Pokémon.
	New distinct regular Pokémon forms released. For reference see List of Pokémon with different forms.
	New distinct shiny forms released. For reference see Shiny Pokémon or List of Shiny Pokémon.
	New Mega-Evoled forms released. For reference see Mega Evolution → List of Mega-Evolved Pokémon.
	For clarity purpose, these lists do not include:
	Pokémon gender differences. Both genders are made available when the Pokémon form is released. For reference see List of Pokémon gender differences.
	When Combee was released, for a few days, only the female version was obtainable and the Pokédex entry only had the female switch. The Pokémon obtained before January 2017 had no gender and a random gender was assigned to them. The gender assigned did not activated the corresponding gender switch in the Pokédex, though. The player had to obtain another Pokémon with the corresponding gender to activate the switch.
	Pokémon obtainable only during certain events, sometimes called Costumed Pokémon, which are not recorded in Pokédex. For reference see Event Pokémon.

Statistics
The total number of Pokémon species and Pokémon distinct forms (regular and shiny) was raised accordingly to the following regions added to the game:
2016
On July 6th 2016, Kanto-region Pokédex introduced 151 new Pokémon species and distinct forms. Template:FormCount On December 12th 2016, Johto-region Pokédex introduced 100 new Pokémon species and 127 distinct forms. Template:FormCount
2017
On October 20th 2017, Hoenn-region Pokédex introduced 135 new Pokémon species, 148 distinct regular forms and 145 distinct shiny forms. Template:FormCount The difference between distinct regular and shiny forms numbers occurred due to 3 Castform non-normal forms that do not have shiny variants.
2018
On May 29th 2018, Alola-region forms became available rising up Kanto-region Pokédex to 169 distinct forms. Template:FormCount On October 16th 2018, Sinnoh-region Pokédex introduced 107 new Pokémon species and 138 distinct forms. Template:FormCount On November 16th 2018, Unknown-region Pokédex became available for Meltan and Melmetal. Template:FormCount
2019
On March 8th 2019, 12 new Spinda forms were added to game files, rising up Hoenn-region Pokédex to 160 distinct forms. Template:FormCount On September 16th 2019, Unova-region Pokédex introduced 156 new Pokémon species and 175 distinct forms. Template:FormCount On November 16th 2019, Galar-region forms (Weezing, Zigzagoon and Linoone) were added to game files, rising up Kanto-region Pokédex to 170 distinct forms and Hoenn-region Pokédex to 162 distinct forms. 2020
On June 3rd 2020, more Galar-region forms were added to game files (Meowth, Farfetch'd, Darumaka, Standard and Zen Darmanitan and Stunfisk), rising up Kanto-region Pokédex to 172 distinct forms and Unova-region Pokédex to 179 distinct forms. Also Galar-region introduced 3 new Pokémon species and distinct forms. Template:FormCount
On July 9th 2020, more Galar-region forms were added to game files (Ponyta, Rapidash, Slowpoke, Slowbro, Mr. Mime, Corsola and Yamask), rising up Kanto-region Pokédex to 177 distinct forms, Johto-region Pokédex to 128 distinct forms, and Unova-region Pokédex to 180 distinct forms. Template:FormCount On August 27th 2020, Mega-Evolved forms were released for the first time with the new Mega Pokédex. The total count of distinct shiny forms rose up to 192 on Kanto-region Pokédex, to 134 on Johto-region Pokédex, to 182 on Hoenn-region Pokédex, to 143 on Sinnoh-region Pokédex and to 181 on Unova-region Pokédex. Template:FormCount On September 18th 2020, sprite assets for shiny variants of Sunny, Rainy and Snowy Castform forms were added to the game. These shiny variants are also absent in the main core game series, until Pokémon HOME which was released back in February, 2020. The total count of distinct shiny forms rose up to 182 on Hoenn-region Pokédex. Template:FormCount On October 23rd 2020, Galar-region introduced 1 new Pokémon species (Runerigus) and distinct forms.
