	These lists includes each different Pokémon form which is registered in the standard or Mega & Primal Pokédex. For each item, it includes information about both: Regular form Shiny form
	New Pokémon species, regular and shiny, that were made available to be obtained for the first time in the gameplay. For reference see List of Pokémon and List of Shiny Pokémon, and for a release date list of only Shiny Pokémon, see List of Shiny Pokémon release dates.
	New distinct regular and shiny Pokémon forms released. For reference see List of Pokémon with different forms and List of Shiny Pokémon.
	New Mega-Evolved forms and Primal Reversions released. For reference see Mega Evolution → List of Mega-Evolved Pokémon and Primal Reversion → List of Primal Reversions.

	For clarity purpose, these lists do not include:
	Pokémon gender differences. Both genders are made available when the Pokémon form is released with very few exceptions. For reference see List of Pokémon gender differences.
	The Pokémon obtained before January 2017 had no gender and a random gender was assigned to them. The gender assigned did not activated the corresponding gender switch in the Pokédex, though. The player had to obtain another Pokémon with the corresponding gender to activate the switch. When Combee was released in January 2019, for two weeks, only the female version was obtainable and the Pokédex entry only had the female switch. Male Frillish was released at the start of the second half of GO Battle League Season 6 in January 2021, and the female form was not released until the start of the Season of Legends in March.
	Pokémon obtainable only during certain events, sometimes called Costumed Pokémon, which are recorded in the Event Pokédex. For reference see List of Event Pokémon by release date.
	Shadow and Purified Pokémon obtainable from Team GO Rocket, which are recorded in the Shadow and Purified Pokédex. For reference see List of Shadow Pokémon by release date.
	XXS and XXL Pokémon. Poochyena family and Mawile height differences were released in December 2022, and all other Pokémon were released in January 2023. For reference see Weight and Height.

2016
On July 6th 2016, Kanto-region Pokédex introduced 151 new Pokémon species and distinct forms. 2017
On October 20th 2017, Hoenn-region Pokédex introduced 135 new Pokémon species, 148 distinct regular forms and 145 distinct shiny forms. 2018
On May 29th 2018, Alola-region forms became available rising up Kanto-region Pokédex to 169 distinct forms. On March 8th 2019, 12 new Spinda forms were added to game files, rising up Hoenn-region Pokédex to 160 distinct forms. Also Galar-region introduced 3 new Pokémon species and distinct forms.
