An Elite Raid Battle is a special Raid Battle, featuring a red Raid Egg with special rare Pokémon. Elite Raids can only be battled in-person, and they can only occur at Elite Raid Gyms.

Elite Raid Eggs spawn and hatch at specific hours. Prior to Elite Raid: Mega Rayquaza, Raid Eggs appeared on Elite Raid Gyms a day before the raid was scheduled to begin.[1]
Raid Mechanics[]
Elite Raid Bosses have an additional hidden Attack and Defense multiplier of 1.00 (compared to the standard multiplier of 0.79). This multiplier makes them more challenging than standard Tier 5 or Tier 6 Raid Bosses, but does not increase their displayed CP value.[2][3]
- Tier 5 Elite Raid Bosses have 20,000 HP, which is more than a standard Tier 5 Raid Boss's HP of 15,000.[4]
- Tier 6 Elite Raid Mega Rayquaza had 22,500 HP, identical to standard Mega Legendary Raid HP.[2]
There is a special bonus that activates around the Gym that hosted the Elite Raid upon clearing a Elite Raid Battle. This bonus causes rare Pokémon to start spawning around the Gym such as Snorlax, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Dragonite and Mienfoo.[5] The spawn pool and bonus duration is determined based on the specific Raid Boss or event; see the listings below for detailed information.

Elite Raids
Rare Pokémon Spawns[]
The Elite Raid Bonus causes featured Pokémon to spawn around the Gym that hosted a successful Elite Raid Battle. The specific spawn pool and bonus duration has changed with each different Elite Raid Day.
Hoopa Unbound[]
The bonus lasted for 15 minutes for Hoopa Unbound Elite Raids.[12]
Incarnate Forme Enamorus[]
The bonus lasted for 30 minutes for Incarnate Forme Enamorus Elite Raids.
Trivia[]
- The Elite Raid Bonus of Rare Pokémon spawns was disabled during the Regidrago and Regieleki Elite Raid Days due to issues.
- The Elite Raid Timed Research was not distributed during Regieleki Elite Raid Day.[13]
- On Regieleki Elite Raid Day, the Raid Eggs appeared on 6 p.m. the previous day instead of the normal 24 hours before the raid.[14]
- On March 1st, 2024, all EX Raid Gyms were renamed into Elite Raid Gyms.[15]
