It will be expanded soon.
Biomes are classes of real-world locations that can alter spawns of wild Pokémon and catch backgrounds in Pokémon GO.
Definition[]

The first four biomes defined in the Rediscover Kanto blog post.
In each season's blog post (beginning with the Season of Legends), different Pokémon have been announced as spawning at increased rates in each of four "areas." Starting with the Season of Mischief, these areas have been referred to in blog posts as the following:
- Cities
- Forests
- Mountains
- Bodies of Water
During Rediscover Kanto, these four areas were first referred to as "biomes." The Rediscover Kanto blog post also stated that additional biome types exist, and announced that Wiglett would make its debut in the "beach" biome. Although this confirms the beach biome exists, the beach biome has not yet been mentioned outside of the context of Wiglett specifically. Since Rediscover Kanto, no other biome types have been officially defined or named.
Biome-Associated Pokémon[]
Below are lists of historical association of Pokémon with specific biomes, as announced in seasonal blog posts (beginning with the Season of Legends blog post).
Available wild Pokémon rotate with each season, meaning not all Pokémon listed below will spawn concurrently within a single season. However, the biome associations within this list may hold true even after the seasons they were first announced in (e.g. Diglett may appear more frequently in Mountain biomes in all seasons it appears in).
