1st Part

Hello there, TRAINER!

I have something exciting planned for you today—you could even say it’s a mega surprise! Haha!

But nothing’s happened yet, so you just focus on having fun with your friends and your Pokémon!

I still have a few loose ends to wrap up, though.

While I finish my preparations, how about you take a quick survey of the area and see what Pokémon are out and about today?

I’ll be ready by the time you’re back.

2nd Part

Ah, good—you’re back. I’ve just finished getting everything ready.

Have you tried to Mega Evolve a Pokémon lately?

Something about Mega Evolution caught my attention recently, so I was hoping you could help me investigate.

Let’s take a closer look at Mega Evolution, from beginning to end.

First, let’s choose which of these Pokémon you’d like to be the star of our research, TRAINER!

Once we’re done, our understanding of Mega Evolution will be second to none.

Venusaur:

So, you’ve chosen Venusaur, the Seed Pokémon!

Venusaur absorbs solar energy as nutrition. By spreading the broad petals of its flower and catching the sun’s rays, it fills its body with power.

While I fetch Venusaur, how about you go out and catch a few Pokémon as a warm-up. Don’t forget to power them up, too.

You’ll have an even more formidable team by your side in no time!

Charizard:

So, you’ve chosen Charizard, the Flame Pokémon!

Its bond with its Trainer is the source of its power. It boasts speed and maneuverability greater than that of a jet fighter.

While I fetch Charizard, how about you go out and catch a few Pokémon as a warm-up. Don’t forget to power them up, too.

You’ll have an even more formidable team by your side in no time!

Blastoise:

So, you’ve chosen Blastoise, the Shellfish Pokémon!

The jets of water it spouts from the rocket cannons on its shell can punch through thick steel.

While I fetch Blastoise, how about you go out and catch a few Pokémon as a warm-up. Don’t forget to power them up, too.

You’ll have an even more formidable team by your side in no time!

3rd Part

Welcome back, TRAINER! Now that we’re fully warmed up, let’s tuck into our research on Mega Evolution.

Some theorize that a strong bond between a Trainer and a Pokémon is the key to Mega Evolution. We’ve also seen that Mega Energy can play a role.

However, I noticed recently that if you Mega Evolve your Pokémon once using Mega Energy, you won’t need to use Mega Energy to Mega Evolve that Pokémon again.

Let’s Mega Evolve Venusaur/Charizard/Blastoise and see if that’s true for ourselves, TRAINER!

4th Part

Venusaur:

What a magnificent Mega Venusaur, TRAINER!

Charizard:

What a commanding Mega Charizard, TRAINER!

Blastoise:

What a brilliant Mega Blastoise, TRAINER!

Let’s keep growing: why don’t you take on a Raid Battle with your mighty Mega Venusaur/Charizard/Blastoise? There may even be a Team GO Rocket Grunt lurking about, looking for a battle.

Mega-Evolved Pokémon are powerful allies. Their strength in battle is unmatched!

I’m sure there’s more to learn about Mega Evolution, so why stop now? Let’s GO!

Mega Kangaskhan Raid Day

The following Raid Bosses were available for a time of this event:

Trivia

  • The Kangaskhan Raid Day was mistakenly made to have more stamina and a 6-hour timer in some early timezones.[2] This was fixed later.[3]
  • During the event, all Mega Evolutions have their CP boosted to level 50 plus the Best Buddy bonus, regardless of Pokémon or trainer level.
