Pokémon World Championships in 2023 was a tie-in event in Pokémon GO for the real-world World Championships of Pokémon Championship Series organized by The Pokémon Company in Yokohama, Japan.[1]

Exclusive move[]
In order to obtain Shadow Claw, Payback, Ice Shard plus Icy Wind, Powder Snow plus Icicle Spear, or Obstruct, Trainers had to evolve Alolan Sandshrew, Machoke, Seel, Sealeo or Galarian Linoone into Alolan Sandslash, Machamp, Dewgong, Walrein or Obstagoon respectively during the event. Trainers cannot use TMs to obtain the attacks.

2023 Pokémon World Championships Timed Research was available during the event:
Timed Researches were available during the event claiming codes for watching 30 minutes of the Pokémon GO Twitch live stream during the Pokémon GO World Championships. The codes were valid through August 20th, 2023, at 12:00 a.m. UTC.[2] This researches were available until August 21st, 2023.

As part of the annual Pokémon World Championships event, to celebrate the coming together of trainers for the Pokémon video games and Trading Card Game, a special event was held around Yokohama, Japan.

- To redeem the timed researches:
- Follow the Pokémon GO Twitch Channel at https://www.twitch.tv/pokemongo.
- Tune in to the live stream on Day 1 (Friday, August 11, 2023) or Day 2 (Saturday, August 12, 2023) starting at 12:00 a.m. UTC. Rebroadcasts will also occur throughout the weekend. If you miss the live broadcast, you can still follow the steps during a rebroadcast to get a code.
- During the live stream, look for a panel below the Twitch stream window on the Pokémon GO Twitch channel.
- Click on "Share Twitch ID" to join and have your watch time tracked.
- A timer will appear to track your watch time. Minimizing the stream will pause the timer, but refreshing or closing the stream may reset it.
- After watching for 30 minutes, a "Claim Your Code" button will appear. Click the button to reveal your code.
- Click on the revealed code to copy it to your clipboard. You can use the direct link provided under the code to go to the Redeem Offer Codes page.
